January 15, 2010, Newsletter Issue #147: The Holidays, Red Hair and why People in Reindeer Cars Should Be Nice

Tip of the Week

The holidays are upon us and the stresses of trying to find the perfect gift is easily seen on the faces of everyone you meet.

As I sat in traffic trying to get back from lunch yesterday I was a bit surprised to see a giant, 3000 pound reindeer by-passing cars on the shoulder. For some reason the driver of the giant reindeer decided the perfect place to cut back into traffic was in front of me...

Doesn't work that way. See, I am a very courtious driver. I consistently let people out of parking lots, give up my space to others and the like. However, if you want to dress your vehicle up with antlers and a big red nose and then try to get the best of others on the road the answer is no.

So...at this pint in our story the driver of the reindeer car is screaming at me, face as red as the nose on her grill, and I am smiling and waving.

Once back at work explanation of the incident involved several detailed drawings of the vehicle as well as diagrams of not only the incident in question but also how others have not allowed discourteous drivers to gain from their advances (at one point the diagrams actually took the shape of a jumping reindeer ).

Later that evening my wife decides it is time to dye her hair...Vampire Red (that was the name on the bottle). 2 bottles, $19.53 and one stained bathtub later her head was a sparkling crimson.

Now, I'm 97% sure that I'm going to have to replace my bathtub unless I can find a good tip on one of the other LifeTip sites. So basically the hair dying may end up costing me roughly $619.53. But...it does look really cool.

Anyway, tomorrow, yes Christmas Eve at 1 pm I hit the road for the 14 hour trip to Iowa. It's a Christmas tradition and one that won't be missed once my kids are old enough to take a plane by themselves.

Happy Holidays
